That's a wrap! First week of School.

We survived the first week at a new school. New environment, new teachers, new friends, new schedules.

I'm amazed at technology these days. They scan Rachel's hand at lunch and that's how we get charged for it. Crazy! As first time parents of a "school-aged" child we adjusted too. Our routines changed a bit now that we have to keep up with her daily assignments and discuss what she is learning in school. They are working on spelling and writing their names right now.

In a school setting Rachel is quiet. She is cautious and observes what is going on prior to engagement. She has been this way since the first day she started daycare. This might be why her teachers love her so much. My hope for her this school year is to break out of her shell and vocalize more in social settings because at home she has no problem speaking up.

My favorite part of the day is hearing the excitement in her voice as she tells me about her day.
