Discipline

So last weekend we had some family over and their niece was playing with Francesca outside in the sandbox. Told them to wash off the sand before coming into the house as sand is a pain to clean up on the floors! Anyways, the next day in the girls room we feel sand all over the bunk bed. We called Francesca up to remind her not to come into the house with sand all over her. Now she is pretty sensitive and ended up crying. I give her a hug and explain to her that we are just teaching her a lesson.

She is in the midst of first communion preparation and at one of the retreats Father tells the children that their parents pass along God's teachings. He goes on with saying "Do you know why after you get in trouble for something that your mom/dad give you a hug"? It's to remind you that no matter what they love you and they are just teaching you right from wrong....just like the 10 commandments you just learned." Francesca may not be my daughter, but I treat her no different than if she was. I love her so much and want to lead her on the right path in life...even if this episode was just about sand:)

Anyways, reason for this post is that later that day she took Rachel's floor mat letters and spelled this out on the carpet. It just melts my heart!
